'BB5' Guys Can't Handle Woman on Top So the hot rumor among avid "Big Brother 5" devotees -- more avid than myself -- is that Drew has been switching places with his twin, Ben, just as Adria and Natalie have been doing. Some are even speculating Diane has been switching with her twin -- although, given Diane's pronounced tan line and serious highlights, that doesn't sound too likely (and as a result of Diane winning Head of Household, we saw a picture of her sister, and they don't look exactly alike).Whether the Drew-Ben rumor is true remains to be seen. I'm summarizing all this because Saturday's (July 31) episode contained even less action than usual, a consequence of the 9 1/2-hour Head of Household competition.Aside from the brilliant documentary "Hands on a Hard Body," which chronicled people's efforts to win a new truck by keeping a hand on it for more than 24 hours straight, endurance contests like this don't make for interesting viewing. Yet "Big Brother" spent a good third of its hour Saturday showing the contestants standing with their fingers in the mouths of life-sized cutouts of themselves. Granted, Jase's mini-breakdown toward the end was kind of entertaining. So were cutaways to the petulant little jabs he took at Scott for joining the group to vote out Holly on Thursday. Apparently, seeing Jase kiss Holly via the Head of Household spycam was what turned the tide for the rest of the Pony Boys, and the 7-1 vote to evict her has caused some rifts in the fraternity. After a lot more standing around, Diane finally outlasts Jase to win HoH, and we go pretty much straight to the politicking for eviction nominees. (I'm doing my best to put the interlude in which the Apple Dumpling Gang poses and preens for the camera out of my mind. Oh, and Karen talks about her husband a lot. Whee.)After showing everyone pictures of her sister -- "way hotter" than Diane, Scott opines -- Diane gets quickly down to business about who she wants to put up for eviction. There's little disagreement among her and her allies that Jase deserves one of the spots, but with her affection for Drew (and/or Ben) clear, they can't reach a consensus on which of the remaining Santa Monica Van Boys (Marvin's name for the Pony Boys and himself) to nominate. In a rare clearheaded moment, Jase says he's pretty sure his key won't be in the round nomination-ceremony thing. Scott says he's prepared to be nominated as well, and "like a samurai, I'll take it in the gut." Hara-kiri is usually self-inflicted, but whatever.Natalie tags in for Adria again, and the two of them express surprise that no one's caught on to their ruse yet. I'm surprised too, frankly. Has no one noticed that Adria is walking around with her hair in front of her face half the time? They need to make it through this week for both of them to play, and it looks pretty much like a lock at this point.Nomination time comes, and it's entirely unsuspenseful: Jase and Scott, who sort-of fought for Holly's attention when she was in the house, will now have to face off to stay in the game. One question, though: Why does Diane say she's sorry that she had to nominate them? She doesn't like the guys, and they don't much care for her. It seems silly at this point even to try to be diplomatic.Of course, Scott and Jase are far less magnanimous after being nominated than they were beforehand. Scott says Diane "is gonna feel the wrath of me, hardcore," and Jase is similarly fired up. They seem to think if one of them can win the veto, they can force Diane to nominate someone else, then play a numbers game to keep the frat together. Which may be true, unless someone's still holding a grudge over Holly's ouster. Those guys would never hold a grudge, though. Right?
